TSS Arandora Star shipping line silver ships wheel pin badge sunk 1940

A scarce original circa 1930's period fine quality MAPPIN & WEBB example 'T.S.S. Arandora Star shipping line silver and enamel brooch', the Blue Star Line company enamel flag mounted to the centre of a ship's wheel, the reverse impressed 'SILVER' and maker's details 'MN & WB' Mappin & Webb Ltd London. Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Diameter 28mm.
'T.S.S. Arandora' built 1927 was in service for 'Blue Star Line'. Renamed 'T.S.S. Arandora Star' in 1929. In the Second World War, 1940 she was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic with the loss of many lives.
