WW2 Mersey Docks & Harbour Board Air Raid Precaution ARP badge Liverpool

A scarce original Second World War period 'Mersey Docks & Harbour Board ARP home front warden badge'; large pattern chromium plated circular example inlaid with blue enamel within red border, inscribed 'MD&HB ARP' to the centre; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, minor service wear.

'Mersey Docks & Harbour Board' (MDHB) was established in 1858 and was the overall port authority for the lower Mersey, Liverpool. In 1972 the title was amended to became the 'Mersey Docks and Harbour COMPANY' (MDHC) the present port authority.
