WW2 National Savings Movement committee member badge by H.W.Miller
A good original wartime period 'National Savings Movement silver plated lapel badge' depicting St George killing the dragon, with the slogan 'Lend to Defend'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'H.W.Miller Ltd Branston St B'Ham.18'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel.
Height 37mm.
Established in 1916 as the 'War Saving Campaign' to encourage the lending of personal savings to the government to finance the First World War and continuing into the Second World War as the 'National Savings Movement'. The badge served to distinguish saving committee members and local volunteer collectors.
