A rare original Second World War period 'Unilever House ARP Air Raid Precautions gilt badge'; highly enamelled eight sided octagon example, depicting a Palm Tree with a variant blue scroll below; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel. Height 28mm.
'Unilever Company' Unilever House, London was founded in 1930 from the amalgamation of soapmaker 'Lever Brothers' and Dutch margarine producer 'Margarine Unie', they invented a new soap, using glycerin and palm oil a major raw material used for both margarines and soaps which was imported from British West Africa.
