British & Foreign Sailors Society copper vesta made from Nelson's Flagship Foudroyant
A scarce original piece of English artefact circa 1905 in the form of a Vesta match case struck from the copper from HMS Foudroyant to Commemorative the Centenary of the 'Battle of Trafalgar' fought by the Royal Navy in their final victory against the combined fleets of the French and Spanish Navies in 1805 and sold on behalf of the 'British & Foreign Sailors Society'; the obverse with a plaque depicting an embossed representation of the ship in full sail and inscribed: 'THIS ARTICLE IS WARRANTED' 'TO BE MADE OF COPPER FROM THE "FOUDROYANT"
Very good clean condition. hinge in good tight working order, match striker to base. An excellent example.
