A scarce original Second World War post 1942 period 'Glider Pilot Regiment officer's beret badge'; die-cast frosted silver plated example in the form of a tri part title circular scroll, the top displaced by a George VI Crown, the centre depicting an eagle with spread wings; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'FIRMIN LONDON'. Very good condition, still retaining frosted silvered finish and complete with original loop fittings. An excellent example.
Height 46mm.
The Regiment was formally inaugurated on the 24th February 1942 as part of the Army Air Corps which then comprised the Glider Pilot Regiment, the Parachute Regiment and the Special Air Service.
