The St John Ambulance Brigade cloth uniform sleeve badge

A scarce original circa 1940' issue ''The St John Ambulance Brigade sleeve badge'; black felt circular example with off-white silk embroidered logo. Very good condition, colour remains bright, evidence of having been removed from uniform.
Diameter 60mm.
'The St John Ambulance Association' was founded in 1877 to provide first aid training.
In 1887 'The St John Ambulance Brigade' was founded to provide uniformed medics at public events.
'The St John Ambulance Brigade' and 'The St John Ambulance Association' merged in 1968 to form the 'St John Ambulance'.
