1949 Womens Land Army ten years service badge

A rare original 1949 Cold War period 'Women's Land Army Ten Years Service badge', authorised in 1949 for ten years dedicated to the cause; gilt brass example depicting a wheatsheaf on green enamel ground within a Crowned laurel wreath with title scrolls top and bottom, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, gilt finish remains bright, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.
Height 41mm.

Women's Land Army was formed in June 1939 and officially disbanded on 21 October 1950.
