Air Raid Precautions 1937 hallmarked silver ARP male warden badge
A scarce original full sized 2nd issue silver 'Air Raid Precautions badge', designed by sculptor 'Eric Gill', made at the Royal Mint and authorised in February 1937, the Metropolitan Borough of Hampstead claimed to issue the first badges in London in December of the same year, the reverse bearing London silver hallmarks for 1937 (letter B) and maker's details 'R.J' (Sir Robert Arthur Johnson (1874-1938). Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting.
