British War Relief Society & Bundles for Britain war workers badge

A good original Second World War period USA charity aid to Great Britain official 'British War Relief Society & Bundles for Britain pin badge' in the form of a shield with British lion and Latin motto 'Dieu et mon droit' (God and my right) superimposed over hand painted patriotic red, white and blue stripes; the reverse impressed in relief 'Official B.W.R.S and B.B by Accessocraft'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings with safety roller catch in good working order, minimal wear to the painted enamel finish.
Height 31mm.

Bundles for Britain was started in 1940 by Mrs. Latham as a knitting circle in a store front in New York. By 1941 they were shipping ambulances, surgical instruments, medicines, field-kitchen units to aid people in Great Britain bombed out of their homes.
