WW1 BRCS & Order of St John Central Work Rooms headquarters award badge

A very scarce original First World War period 'British Red Cross Society and Order of St John Central Work Rooms badge' gilt brass example bearing the wartime conjoined shields; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original red enamel suspension bar with original pin fittings and cream and red stripped silk ribbon, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.
Height approx 67mm.

The 'Joint War Committee badge' was awarded to members of the 'Central Work Rooms' on completion of 100 half-days service within four months.
