Addington Park War Hospital silver nurses tribute badge
A very scarce original end of the First World War period 'Addington Park War Hospital silver tribute badge'; blue enamel title circlet, with central embossed scroll decoration, displaced by large red cross shield to the base and light blue plaque above '1914 1918'; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1918 and maker's details 'HCF Ld' (Henry Charles Freeman, Hatton Garden, London). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel and still retaining its lightly gold plated finish.

'Addington Park War Hospital' Croydon, Surrey was establish in 1914 as a military hospital for soldiers suffering from acute infectious diseases, such as typhoid fever, dysentery and septicaemia.
After the war the Hospital remained the central dysentery hospital for the Army. It closed in 1919.
