A scarce original circa 1966 to 1979 Cold War period 'Parachute Qualification felt cloth wing' embroidered in gold bullion, with silver wire canopy, the reverse still retaining white paper disc with maker's details 'Griscti's Malta Embroiderers' with the numbers '31975' '50'. Good condition, bullion toned.
Width approx 89mm.
GRISCTI'S EMBROIDERIES LTD, VALLETTA, Malta, was founded in 1966 and was one of the main manufacturers and suppliers of uniforms and insignia to the military forces. The British Military Forces withdrew from Malta on the 31/3/1979.
This wing was removed from a mothed dark blue patrol uniform worn by an officer of the Beds & Herts Regiment.
