WW2 Supplementary Fire Party SFP home front lapel badge

A very scarce original wartime period 'Supplementary Fire Party lapel badge'; silver plated small rectangular example bearing blue enamel 'S.F.P' lettering; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'B.H.Collins & Co B'Ham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, minimal wear to silver plating.
Size 26 x 11mm.

Supplementary Fire Parties were introduced from the summer of 1940 to assist local fire brigades in dealing with the outbreak of fires during air raids mainly from incendiary bombs.
