Amalgamated Society of Engineers ASE trade union badge
A scarce original circa 1913 to 1920 period 'Amalgamated Society of Engineers lapel badge'; circular gilded brass convex example inlaid with red, white and blue enamel, the centre bearing clasped hands across the globe 'ASE' below, the reverse with unusual maker's details 'Fengl Winster' and 'REGd No 618410' a registered, design and patent date of 1913. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
Diameter 21mm.
The 'Amalgamated Society of Engineers' was formed in 1851, it became the 'Amalgamated Engineering Union' in 1920.
