WW1 Coventry Ordnance Works Special War Service munition makers badge
A scarce original Great War period 'Coventry Ordnance Works Ltd Special War Service badge' brass circular example bearing blue enamel title surround with 'Heavy Artillery Field Gun' to the centre on enamel ground. Very good condition, the original buttonhole fitting replaced by pin and catch during or after the war.
Diameter 29mm.
'Coventry Ordnance Works Limited' was formed in 1905 by a consortium of shipbuilding firms John Brown, Yarrow, Cammell Laird and Fairfield, during the First World War they manufactured heavy artillery guns for the British Army and the Royal Navy. They closed in 1925.
