British Overseas Airways Corporation BOAC Airline silver pilot's wing pin badge
A rare original early circa 1940s unique commissioned unofficial 'British Overseas Airways Corporation pilots wing tiepin brooch'; silver griffin on torse set within black enamel central shield surmounted by an 'Astral Crown' flanked by large finely feathered wings the reverse impressed 'Sterling'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings and additional safety chain.
Wingspan 62mm.
This wing came housed in a vintage 'Crisson Ltd. Bermuda' (founded 1922) jewellers display box, this is in very poor condition and not sure if it is anything to do with its history, but is being sold with it just in case.
British Overseas Airways Corporation was formed in 1939, BOAC and BEA merged in 1974 to form British Airways.
