WW1 Leicester City Special Constable police reserve badge

A scarce original First World War period 'Leicester City Special Constable lapel badge'; blue enamel gilt title surround, convex gilt button style centre bearing an embossed shield with 'Cinquefoil pierced Ermine' surmounted by a Wyvern and motto below 'Semper Aedem' (Always the same); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt & Son London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, an excellent example.
