A rare original circa 1940's period 'Bedfordshire Constabulary Messenger Service lapel badge', chromium plated circular example, with blue enamel title surround, the centre displaying in bold letters 'PMS' on red enamel ground, believed to be an abbreviation for 'Police Messenger Service'; the reverse with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham' and impressed with an official low issue number '167'. Fair to good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, centre red enamel with heavy enamel damage and loss, blue surround in good condition.
