Air Defence Cadet Corps cap badge by J.R.Gaunt London

A scarce original circa 1938 to 1941 period 'Air Defence Cadet Corps cap badge'; chromium plated title circlet, stylised electric blue enamel 'speedbird' emblem to voided centre, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with two loop fittings and split pin, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, minimal wear.
Diameter 39mm.

The 'Air Defence Cadet Corps' was founded in 1938, as a volunteer youth organisation to encourage young people to join the RAF. It was replaced in 1941 by the Air Training Corps.
