WW1 Army Remount Service cap badge by Lambourne & Co
A scarce original First World War period 'Army Remount Service cap badge'; die-stamped oval title strap, surmounted by a Crowned 'GvR' cypher, white metal prancing horse to voided centre. Very good condition, the original slider fitting with maker's details 'Lambourne & Co Birmingham'.

The 'Army Remount Service' was the unit responsible for the purchase and training of horses and mules for the British Army between 1887 and 1942. In 1891, the service became part of the Army Service Corps (ASC). In 1942 the Army Remount Service was amalgamated into the Army Veterinary and Remount Service.
