British Railways circa 1956 chromium plated cap badge

A good original circa 1956 period 'British Railways hat badge'; chromium plated demi-lion holding a wheel between its paws and rising from a crown, complete with orignal two loop fittings to reverse and split pin retainer. Very good condition, minimal wear.
Height 39mm.

In 1956 following a 'Grant of Arms' a demi-lion holding a wheel between its paws and rising from a crown was introduced in badge form for caps, and this symbol was displayed above a fishtail style bar badge which was enamelled in the regional colours and lettering to denote ticket collector, porter,guard, foreman or excess, with a 'British Railway' one to cover other grades.
