Killearn Hospital Orthopaedic Training School silver qualification badge Scotland
A very scarce original 1950's period 'Killearn Hospital Orthopaedic Training School silver and enamel qualification badge', the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1950, maker's details 'V&S' (Vaughton & Sons) and inscribed to the recipient 'E.W.Smillie 18-1-52'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height 30mm.
Killearn Hospital Scotland was one of five commisioned in 1938 in preparation for the war and completed in 1941 just in time for the Luftwaffe bombers air raids in and around Clydebank, the town was seriously damaged as were the local shipyards. The hospital was closed in the early 1970’s.
