A scarce original First World War period 'Engaged On war work badge'; gilded brass circular example the title surround inlaid with blue enamel, the centre depicting an embossed 'Union Spray' representing the unity of England, Scotland and Ireland, a Rose, Thistle and Shamrock, with applied white central title bar 'C.Ainsworth & Co Ltd', the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Medallist'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
