WW2 Auxiliary Fire Service AFS firemans cap badge by Wlliam White

A scarce original possibly senior officer's Second World War period 'Auxiliary Fire Service' cap badge; die-cast chromium plated convex eight pointed star, with red enamel 'AFS' lettering to the centre, the reverse with unusual maker's details 'Wlliam White Ltd Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with two original loop fittings, enamel perfect, minimal service wear.
Height 41mm.

In 1941 the 'Auxiliary Fire Service' and the local authority fire brigades were amalgamated to become the 'National Fire Service'.
