WW1 Holborn Infirmary nurses silver hospital badge, Highgate London
A scarce original First World War period superb quality 'Holborn Infirmary nurses badge' in the form of a large hollow silver white rose, mounted with a coloured shield bearing the 'Coat of Arms of Holburn', the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1917 and maker's details 'R.S' 'Spencer London' and inscribed to the recipient 'Frances May Pound 1915'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, enamel perfect. An excellent example.
Height 36mm.
Frances May Pound was born around 1884 in Stratton St. Margaret Wiltshire. She trained at the Holborn Union Infirmary between 1912 and 1915. During the Second World War she was living in Harrogate Yorkshire.
She later married and became Mrs Frances May Storr.
