A scarce original 'The national Commemorative medal 1899 -1900' white metal example; the obverse depicting a wounded but defiant British soldier, rifle at the ready, a representation of 'A Gentleman in Kharki' by Richard Caton Woodville; the reverse inscribed 'The Queen God Bless Her' 'This Medal Commemorates The Magnificent Response of Britain's Sons To The Empire's Call To Arms Transvaal War 1899-1900' 'Daily Mail Kipling Poem'; with maker's details to the reverse 'Spink & Son London'. Good condition, small edge knock in the 2 o'clock position, contained in its original buff coloured cardboard box with partial paper label to the inside lid, otherwise very good condition.
