WW1 National Reserve Argyll home front badge

A rare original First World War period Scottish 'National Reserve Argyll home front badge'; Crowned gilded oval example, blue enamel title surround, the centre depicting a hand holding fiery cross on light blue solid ground, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'JAS Hardy & Co Aberdeen'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, enamel perfect, gilt remains bright.
Height 39mm.

In Scotland, the fiery cross, known as the 'Crann Tara' was used as a declaration of war.
