British Red Cross Society 1915 Medical Officer technical badge 9 carat gold.
A very rare unique original Great War period medal issue to a Doctor working for the 'British Red Cross Society' Technical Branch' bearing 'Medical Officer' bar, the reverse impressed with Birmingham 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1915, maker's details 'JRG&S' (J.R.Gaunt & Sons) and inscribed 'No 244 Dr. James Hunter'. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon, 9 carat gold title bar and buckle suspension with pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, an excellent example, housed in its velvet lined fitted leather case.

Weight approx 18.9 grams with ribbon.
The British Red Cross Society Technical badges were instituted in 1914 and were eligible to members of the Voluntary Aid Detachments with professional qualifications, they were discontinued in the mid 1960's.
