British Red Cross Society Medal For Merit Badge

A scarce original pre 1961 issue 'British Red Cross Society Merit gilt and enamel badge', the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, no stress or damage to the enamel.
Height 75mm.

The British Red Cross Society Merit badge was instituted in 1914 and were eligible to members of the Voluntary Aid Detachments who had obtained the Society's Proficiency badges in First Aid, Nursing and one other subject they were discontinued in 1968.
