British Red Cross Society medal of merit badge and bars
A scarce original post 1961 to 1968 pattern short-lived issue 'British Red Cross Societt medal of merit gilt and enamel badge' this example with wider ribbon than the pre 1961 issues and with one and two year additional bars, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.
Height 77mm.
The British Red Cross Society Merit badge was instituted in 1914 and were eligible to members of the Voluntary Aid Detachments who had obtained the Society's Proficiency badges in First Aid, Nursing and one other subject they were discontinued in 1968.
