Old Contemptibles Association Northern Ireland badge.
A rare original post 1925 'Old Contemptibles Association badge Northern Ireland'; gilt brass example in the form of a voided cross, each arm inlaid with blue enamel, the central disc in green inscribed 'August 4th - November 22nd 1914' the reverse with makers details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the blue and green enamel.
Height 23mm.
iThe Old Contemptibles Association was founded by Capt JP Danny of the Royal Artillery on June 25th 1925, all members were known as "chums" and were the survivors of the First British Expeditionary Force of August-November 1914.
The Northern Ireland branch of the Old Contemptibles Association was finally disbanded in 1957.
