WW2 Supplementary Fire Parties / Street Fire Parties SFP armband

A good original wartime issue 'Supplementary Fire Parties / Street Fire Parties armband'; navy blue cotton example with stiffener to the front and bearing stencilled red painted lettering 'SFP'; the inside with red stencilled numbers "5799 49". Very good condition.

Supplementary Fire Parties were introduced from the summer of 1940 to assist local fire brigades in dealing with the outbreak of fires during air raids mainly from incendiary bombs. In August 1940 Fire Wardens organised the Street Fire Parties.
