Boy Scouts Gallantry Gilt Cross Award For Heroism 1909 -1919 medal.

A rare original first issue circa 1909 -1919 period 'Boy Scouts Gallantry Cross Award'; gilded brass example the obverse inscribed "For Saving Life", the reverse with indent of scout emblem. Good condition, retaining original suspension rings, red and blue silk ribbon and narrow suspension bar with pin fittings, gilt finish with minor sevice wear.
Height approx 84mm.

Instituted 21st October 1909 Gallantry Gilt Cross awards had the words "For Saving Life" on the upper arm and side arms, but from 1920 the design was changed to read "For Gallantry".
