A scarce original First World War period short lived armed merchant cruiser 'HMS Arlanza naval brooch'; King George V crowned blue enamel strap, the centre with embossed 'White Ensign' in red, white and blue enamelling, the reverse impressed "Solid Silver". Very good condition, complete with original coiled pin bar typical of the period, enamel perfect.

'RMS Arlanza' was a ocean liner built by Harland and Wolff, Belfast, Ireland for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. She was requisitioned in the First World War from 1915 until 1920 and became a Royal Navy armed merchant cruiser. She was decommissioned in 1920, returned to her owners and resumed commercial liner service until she was scrapped in 1938.
