RMS Mongolia sunk 1917 silver & enamel ships picture badge spoon
A scarce original shipping line silver spoon from the ill-fated Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company 'R.M.S.Mongolia' which was sunk by a mine off Bombay on June 23rd 1917. The finial in the form of a disc depicting a hand-painted enamel representation of the two funnels and masts passenger ship; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1906 and maker's details "L&S" (Levi & Salaman Birmingham). Very good condition, no stress marks or chips to the enamel.
