RAF No 13 Squadron Royal Air Force badge circa 1950s.
A scarce original early Elizabeth II period 'RAF No 13 Squadron' gilt and enamel badge, depicting a lynx's head in front of a dagger with Latin motto "Adjuvamus tuendo" (We assist by watching), the reverse with maker's details "H.W.Miller Ltd B'Ham.18". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, minor wear to gilt finish.
Height 34mm.
RAF No 13 Squadron during WW2 operated the light bombers the Bristol Blenheim and Douglas Boston in the Mediterranean theatre. In the post war years it saw service during the the 1956 'Suez Crisis' flying the Canberra and later the first Gulf War when it flew the Tornado GR.1A aircraft.
