Royal South Hampshire and Southampton Hospital nurses badge

A good original pre-1955 'Royal South Hants and Southampton Hospital badge'; chromium plated example designed in the shape of the Hampsire rose and bearing enamel vignette centre depicting an ancient sailing ship on white enamel ground; the reverse impressed with makers details "Fenwick B'Ham". Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.
Height 29mm.

Founded in 1838 as the 'Royal South Hampshire Infirmary'. In 1900 became the 'Royal South Hampshire and Southampton Hospital' until circa 1955 it took on its present name the 'Royal South Hampshire Hospital'.
