A scarce original First World War period 'Silver War Badge officially numbered "103113", awarded to "7565 Pte Edward Salmon"; unmarked silver circlet inscribed "For King And Empire" "Services Rendered" bearing crowned "GRI" Imperial Cypher to voided centre, the reverse with replacement pin fittings and heavy service wear.
Diameter 33mm.

Awarded to Private Edward Salmon of the Lincolnshire Regiment. He enlisted on the 30th June 1914 and landed with his Regiment in France on the 21st July 1915 earning a 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. He was discharged and awarded the Silver War Badge on the 26th June 1914.

The 'Silver War Badge' was awarded to service personnel who were honourably discharged due to wounds or sickness whilst serving in the Great War. It was worn on the lapel in civilian clothing.
