Universal Aircraft officially numbered identification badge c1940
A scarce original circa 1940's 'Universal Aircraft workers badge', gilded brass circular example bearing red enamel title surround, the centre displaying a fighter plane with initials to four corners "UAUT" on white enamel ground, the reverse impressed with maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham" (a post-1927 address) and comparatively low issue number "263". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, gilt finish and enamel with very minor service wear.
Diameter 25mm.
Universal Aircraft Ltd of Mitcham, Surrey, from a 1940's advertising poster, state that they are 'Specialists In Intricate Presswork' and that the are 'Fully AID (Air Inspection Department) Approved'.
