The Boys Brigade Daily Telegraph shield medal Mappin & Webb
A scarce original circa 1920's 'Boys Brigade Daily Telegraph Shield medal award'; bronzed example without milling to the rim, the top suspenstion bar with embossed title "The Boys' Brigade', from this depends a blue silk ribbon supporting a circular medal, the obverse depicting the 'winged Victory figure', the reverse a pre-1927 anchor which was carried through into the early 1930's. Exceptionally good condition, retaining original blue silk ribbon, suspension bar with pin fittings, minimal wear.

The Daily Telegraph Shield Competition was held at the Royal Albert Hall it was for London District based Boys' Brigade and was supported by the national newspaper. The Daily Telegraph Shield Medal was presented to every boy in the winning Company and was given the title of the 'Blue Riband' of London BB competitions.
