A scarce original circa 1940's 'Rotol Ltd Women's Industrial Nursing Service badge'; oxidized silver plated example, depicting the 'Rotol' enamelled winged logo within laurel wreath surround, with scroll above bearing the initials "W.I.N.S". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel perfect.

'Rotol Ltd' Gloucester, was formed in 1937 by 'Rolls-Royce' and 'Bristol Aeroplane Company' for the development and manufacture of propellers for the growing demand for their fighter planes from the RAF. The name 'Rotol' was a combination of the "RO" from Rolls-Royce" and "TOL" from the name 'Bristol'.
