Imperial Airways pilots wing silver and enamel brooch c1924-39

A scarce original circa 1924-39 'Imperial Airways silver wing badge'; designed on the style of the pilot's wing; blue enamel "IA" monogram within laurel wreath shield, surmounted by a lion and flanked by finely feathered wings, the reverse impressed "Sil". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating early style safety catch, enamel perfect, minimal wear.

'Imperial Airways' founded in 1924, was merged into the 'British Overseas Airways Corporation' in 1939, later to become 'British Airways'.
