British Red Cross Society war service 1914-1918 NAMED medal
A scarce privately named medal issued in 1920, full sized example the obverse with Red Cross within laurel wreath and title surround "British Red Cross Society For War Service: 1914-1918", the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London" and Latin motto "Inter Arma Caritas" (In War, Charity) Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings.

Thomas Warwick Tiplady worked at the Bakewell Gas Works and volunteered for Red Cross Mens Detachment in November 1914. His war service was local serving as a Section Leader, undertaking night orderly duties at local hospitals, air raid patrols and preparing for lectures. He was discharged in April 1919 having completed 842 hours work
