Australian National Airways gilt and enamel ANA airline badge
A rare original circa 1936 -1957 'Australian National Airways badge', gilded brass example in the form of a globe with map of Australia inlaid with red enamel, the reverse with maker's details "Bertram Melb.". Very good condition, retaining original conjoined two loop fittings and retaining pin, enamel remains perfect, gilt bright, an excellent example..
Diameter 19mm.
'Australian National Airways' was founded in 1936, sold to Ansett in 1957 to form 'Ansett-ANA', the name was retained until 1968 when it was renamed 'Ansett Airlines of Australia'.
