St.Annes Nursery College trained nanny badge
A scarce original circa 1920's period 'St.Anne's Nursery College nanny badge'; from a navy blue silk ribbon depends a gilt metal shield, highly enamelled and bearing a Cross with the letters "S.A.N.C" and central spray of lilies with Latin motto scroll below "Beati Mundo Corde" (Blessed are the pure in heart). Very good condition, enamel perfect, gilt remains fresh, original silk ribbon now fragile and with raw edge.
Height of badge 33mm.
'St.Anne's Nursery College was organisation for training nannies. It was situated at 'Pittville Circus, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire' between 1912 -1935. The letters S.A.N.C which not only stood for the name, formed the first syllable of Sanctus, holy reminding the members that their work was dedicated.
