Hellingly Hospital nurses training school 1975 silver badge

A scarce original badge from the 'Hellingly Hospital Nurses Training School' the centre bearing the 'East Sussex County Coat of Arms' within a shield; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1975, maker's details "TK&S" (Toye, Kenning & Spencer) and inscribed "Mrs.S.D.Fox 1975". Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, enamel perfect and still retaining its original gilt finish, a perfect example.

The 'Hellingly Hospital' was founded in 1903, its previous names were 'East Sussex County Asylum' and 'East Sussex County Mental Hospital'. It closed in 1994.
