Butlins 1937 Skegness Holiday Club jolly fisherman badge
A scarce original pre-war 'Skegness Butlin's Holiday Club 1937 undated badge'; gilded brass example in the form of an enamelled jolly fisherman within a voided circlet, resting on a red enamel title scroll "Butlin's Holiday Club"; the reverse impressed with maker's details in relief "Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St. Birmingham". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, very minor scuff mark to the top of the right boot, gilt finish remains bright.
Height 27mm.
Butlin's Skegness Holiday Camp was thriving until the 3rd September 1939 when the Second World War was declared. The site was taken over by the Royal Navy for use as a training establishment, known as HMS Royal Arthur.
