London Aeroplane Club elite membership badge c1930s

A rare original 'London Aeroplane Club membership badge'; gilded brass feather quill bearing yellow enamel star flanked by black enamel stylized wings, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Skinner & Co 34 Old Bond St London.W.1.'and with low official issue number '282'. Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect, an excellent example.
Length 29mm.

The 'London Aeroplane Club' was opened by Sir Philip Sassoon in 1925. He was Secretary of State for Air, Honorary Commanding Officer of 601 (County of London) Squadron, nicknamed ‘The Millionaires’ Squadron.
