Rediffusion TV and Radio long service 1949 silver badge

A scarce post-war late 1940's 'Rediffusion Long Service silver badge', of circular design, featuring in red enamel, the title within an outer and inner laurel leaf surround with 1931 to the centre; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1949, maker's details "M&B" (Marples & Beasley, Birmingham) and inscribed "R.V.Roscoe". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.

'Rediffusion' was the trading name of the 'Broadcast Relay Service Ltd' formed in 1928. In 1948 Rediffusion established 'Redifon Ltd' as a manufacturer of naval (and later flight) telecommunications equipment.
